  • Who are your favorite timbaleros?

Chino's great but I don't think you can compare him too much to the legends.

However, I was at a bar once & Ray Sepulveda was playing & Chino playing timbal. They were doing the song "Mascarada". The breaks that Chino was doing for that song, he remastered that song on his own with all the breaks he was doing. I was in complete shock.

Often times, artists are not recognized until long after they reached the pinnacle of their success, or even worse, until after they have died. For some reason we find it difficult to give credit to our contemporaries. This is just an unfortunate part of human dynamics. I included Chino because I truly believe that he ranks as one of the great timbaleros; although he, relatively speaking, is only just beginning his career. I believe that history will prove me to be correct.
