Considered to be one of the greatest and most successful managers of all time by several pundits,[2][3][4][5][6] Scolari was a defender during his playing days, and notably represented Caxias before moving to a managerial role in 1982. After leading the Brazil national team to a FIFA World Cup win in 2002, he was manager of the Portugal national team from July 2003 to June 2008.
